Student Life
With 35 years experience our friendly staff have an open door policy and are ready and willing to assist students with anything from financial aid questions, tutoring or helping students in achieving a deeper understanding of course material.
AIM Academy is centrally located in downtown Toronto and steps away from Chinatown and Kensington Market - a vibrant and growing health conscious community. We also have a kitchen where students can relax, eat and enjoy a quiet homey environment.
Our student clinic is a well established clinic within the downtown community. Our students have the opportunity to treat a wide variety of clients with various conditions to gain real world experience. All of our students are entitled to free treatments within our student clinic.
Choosing a school, and program of study, is an ambitious process! We’ve outlined our key features that we feel set us apart from other institutions and have answered frequently asked questions.
Schedules:
We offer three schedules:
- Evenings/Weekends
- Daytime (Monday to Friday 9:30AM - 5:30PM)
- Begin your journey on a part-time basis and when you're ready, let us tailor your schedule to suit your needs. Our Part-Time Acupuncture Diploma Program can be taken over the course of 4 years.
Begin your journey with Traditional Chinese Medicine Theory! Stay tuned for class start date.
The schedule is consistent and doesn't change. If you sign up for the daytime schedule then all your classes will be scheduled either from 9:30am - 1pm and/or 2-5:30pm. You can rest assured that you will not have classes on the weekends or evenings. If your classes are evenings/weekends then you will not suddenly have classes scheduled during the day the following term. You can plan your family life/work/etc around this schedule knowing that it is secure. We've also created the option of taking courses on a one by one basis and when you're ready to enrol in our program, we'll tailor your schedule to suit your needs.
We are celebrating our 35th year in business! Some of our faculty members have been with us since the beginning. Others for 5, 10, 20 or more years. We have a dedicated team of instructors that are not only knowledgeable in their subject areas but are also passionate about what they teach. This in turn leads to students being inspired about learning TCM.
Continuing Education:
Continuing education workshops are offered every year allowing the graduate student or seasoned practitioner the opportunity to continue learning and expanding their knowledge base for years to come. A few of our favourite and most sought after workshops are:
-
Facial Rejuvenation/Cosmetic Acupuncture: This course will allow acupuncturists to apply the basic principles of Oriental Medicine in order to provide in-depth facial rejuvenation treatments for a wide-range of commonly seen issues. The practical applications of facial rejuvenation can be a lucrative service for those practitioners who choose to incorporate it into their TCM practice!
-
Wang Ju-yi’s Applied Channel Theory with Jonathan Chang: Channel Diagnosis and Palpation Seminar Part I, II and III with Jonathan Chang: Applied Channel Theory (經絡醫學jīng luò yī xué) is an approach in Chinese medicine rooted in the dual research threads of classical texts and modern clinical application.
- Advance Acupuncture Technique: Advance Acupuncture Technique workshop is designed to enhance a practitioner's confidence in their needling technique and to improve clinical effectiveness.
As Acupuncture and TCM continue to flourish around the world, it's crucial for both aspiring students and experienced practitioners to continuously refresh their knowledge and revisit the rich foundation of their practice. This not only helps reinforce their understanding but also opens doors to new connections and breakthroughs in what they already know. At AIM, we are fully committed to supporting our students on their learning journey. That's why we are delighted to offer an exclusive opportunity for our AIM graduates. As part of this commitment, our graduates are able to enroll into any online course from our Acupuncture Therapy Program free of charge. In addition, in-person courses from our Acupuncture Therapy Program are available to them at a 50% discount. Take advantage of this invaluable chance to refresh your knowledge and unlock new horizons in your journey by enrolling in our courses. Tutoring & Fees:
We offering independent tutoring for students that are wanting to learn the material on a ‘one on one’ basis for a fee. Other than this fee, which is independent of the school (tutors are tutoring independently and cost may vary) and the fees for tuition, books, lab coat, final examinations fees and supplemental fees (if anyone fails a course) there are no other hidden fees. You are not required to pay for clinic supplies such as acupuncture needles, moxa, guasha, name tags or linen services.
Good Standing with The Government and Immigration & Insurance:
We are an Ontario Student Assistance Program and International Student Program. Our institution has gone through a rigorous process to ensure that we meet the criteria set out by both government bodies. As part of this process, we are required to make sure that the school is in good standing and properly insured.
College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO):
Our program is designed to meet the CTCMPAO core competencies and students leave with the theoretical and practical skills to write the licence exam as well as to confidently start working in the acupuncture and TCM field. With close to 35 years of service we have a dedicated and loyal client base and students are not required to recruit their own clients (although referrals are always welcome!). Students will have the opportunity to work on clients of all ages and a variety of medical conditions.
At AIM Academy we believe in transparency, and equality and we have an open door policy and welcome our prospective students, students, faculty , staff and those who are curious to come to us with any questions, concerns or comments. We’re available to meet in person (while following safe COVID protocol proceedures), over the phone or through Zoom.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Testimonials
"AIM prepares students for the real world. There’s history in their teachings. As one of the original Chinese Medicine schools, they gather the best teachers in the industry. Our clinic pays attention to AIM graduates who apply to our busy Acupuncture clinic. As Alumni myself, I attribute my own success to the incredible experience I had over 20 years ago. As a clinic owner, I know first-hand that AIM Grads benefit from the generous amount of hands-on work. These practical real-time skills are vital for serving patients. We trust that AIM Grads will be prepared to sustain a living doing Acupuncture. Trust this Toronto Institution for quality Traditional Chinese Medicine education." - Sarah Keitzer | AIM Alumni
