Acupuncture, Moxibustion & Cupping Therapy

Acupuncture

An ancient method of healing that uses individually packaged, sterilized, disposable needles. These extremely thin  needles are positioned on specific acupoints to balance the flow of vital energy, Qi, in the body.

Many extended health insurances cover acupuncture and acupuncture is now regulated in the province of Ontario.

Acupuncture Therapists often use other methods to complement needle treatment. These may include Moxibustion, a heat treatment using a dried herb called "mugwort".

Acupuncture is an effective therapy for a wide variety of conditions including:

  • Sciatica
  • Headaches, migraines
  • Asthma
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • PMS
  • And many other chronic conditions

Shiatsu Therapy

Shiatsu

The word shiatsu literally translates as “finger pressure". Our therapists are trained in meridian style shiatsu, a form that is deeply rooted in the art of Eastern therapeutic medical practices.

Gentle, but firm pressure is applied to specific acupressure points on the body. Stimulating these points helps to re-balance a person’s energy (“Ki” in Japanese).

Shiatsu treatments have been used to give relief for a wide variety of conditions including:

  • Neck and shoulder pain
  • Back pain
  • Stress
  • Headaches
  • Poor digestion
  • Constipation
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Many other chronic conditions

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Facial Rejuvenation / Cosmetic Acupuncture is a natural skin rejuvenation technique that
stimulates the body's healing energies and increases circulation to reduce wrinkles, eliminate fine lines, lift sagging skin and improve skin colour and texture. Not only can it revitalize aging skin but is also good for acne, puffiness and reduction of bags and dark circles under the eyes. It can help your eyes to look brighter, will leave your skin rosier and clearer and your essence lighter.

Cranial Sacral Therapy

Cranial Sacral Therapy

With a light touch, the cranial sacral practitioner uses his or her hands to evaluate the cranial sacral system by gently feeling various locations of the body to test for the ease of motion and rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid pulsing around the brain and spinal cord. Soft-touch techniques are then used to release restrictions in any tissues influencing the cranial sacral system.

Osteopathy

The body is seen as an integrated whole, each part affecting the other physically, mentally and spiritually.

The structure and the function of the body parts are interrelated.

The body has its own mechanisms to self-regulate, self-heal and self-maintain.

This may be facilitated by an osteopathic practitioner. Osteopathy is a gentle hands on therapy that works with techniques such as joint mobilizations, sustained touch, muscle energy (contract/relax), cranial sacral and visceral.

Treatments are beneficial for:

  • Shoulder, neck and low back pain
  • Stress, anxiety and depression
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Osteoarthritis, joint pain
  • Menstrual and menopausal concerns
  • Respiratory conditions
  • Gastrointestinal issues
  • Neuropathies due to nerve entrapment (thoracic outlet syndrome, carpal tunnel, sciatica)
  • Pre and post – natal health
