Description:This course is developed specifically for those currently working as a professional therapist and has 3 main goals:
- to provide useful shiatsu techniques to add to your existing practice to take strain off your own body
- to give an introduction to basic Eastern Medical theory and shiatsu theory
- to provide useful self-care techniques for the busy professional therapist to ensure that you can maintain a thriving practice
Shiatsu is a popular style of Eastern Bodywork that uses comfortable, lean-on pressure. In this course you will learn a basic thumb sequence, use of elbow pressure and stretches.
You will begin with learning the fundamentals of shiatsu pressure on the floor, and will progress to applying appropriate shiatsu pressure when working on the table. In addition, you will learn self-shiatsu techniques and various self-care exercises. This course is a mixture of theory and practice, with an emphasis on the practical components.

Cancellations made by the student on or before two weeks prior to the course start date will result in a $35 cancellation fee. Student cancellations made after that date will not receive a refund.
Instructor: LORI EISLER, BFA, RMTLori Eisler is a certified Shiatsu therapist who teaches Shiatsu in the full-time diploma program.
Lori received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University. She is also a graduate of AIM Academy (1991), formally The Shiatsu School of Canada, and a practicing Certified Shiatsu Therapist. Over the past 20 years Lori has been in private practice. She has also adapted her skills to the workplace providing treatments and seminars on relaxation. Her former modern dance career and her continuing education and involvement in dance, yoga and Zen Shiatsu exercise are integrated into her classes.
Lori is also a professional Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) and is provincially licensed by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.
Instructor: ALEX CHANG, RMT
With over nine years clinical experience, Alex has successfully treated a diverse group of people and conditions. Customizing therapy based on the client’s condition, he will draw from a unique combination of acupuncture, shiatsu and massage techniques. Additionally, Alex can integrate other techniques such as: myofascia release, soft tissue release, trigger point release or tui-na.
Alex is a professional Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) and Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac). He is provincially licensed by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and The College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario, respectively.
As a professional therapist, Alex is dedicated to his practice and clients. Passionate about his work, he is pleased to offer integrative therapies to optimize healing.
