Foundation of Thai Massage
Begins May 9
This course will introduce participants to the key concepts and techniques used in Traditional Northern Style Nuad Bo-Rarn (Thai Massage). From learning to sense and adjust the movement of energy in patients to pressure points and stretches, participants will be able to perform a sequence of techniques employing 63 manipulations covering the anterior surface of the body providing 60 - 90 minutes of treatment.
Northern Style Thai Massage emphasizes the use of passive stretching during treatment. Joint mobilizations and dynamic techniques effectively increase function while balancing and aligning structure. The result is a harmonious treatment that leaves clients both relaxed and energized. Thai Massage is a hybrid of intercultural medicine. It demonstrates a synthesis of Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine by drawing on principles of yoga and acupressure. The manipulations integrate well with other forms of massage to enhance healing potential.
Intermediate and Advanced courses further explore Sen lines and Internal medicine while learning to treat patients in prone, lateral recumbent and seated postions.
