Death and Dying in Chinese Medicine (June 24)
There is often very little that is spoken about the process of death and dying. We will explore the psycho-emotional approach on death and dying in Chinese Medicine and discover what insights the three ancient Chinese pillars of Confucianism, Daoism and Buddism has to say about death. The seminar will demonstrate treatment approaches based on the 5 elements and how to support patients who are going through their end stage of life.
Sex and Relationship in Chinese Medicine (June 25)
In this seminar, we will explore the 5 Elements and 6 stages of Relationship in Chinese Medicine and learn how to cultivate a healthy relationship with yourself and with others. Through the discussion of sex in Chinese Medicine, practitioners will gain confidence in supporting patients in a variety of sexual disorders and infertility issues. There will be Qigong demonstration, herbal/dietary recommendation and treatment protocols to enhance Kidney function.

Instructor: RICHARD KWAN, BSc, R.TCMP, R.Ac
Richard completed the 4-year Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) program at the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TSTCM). He lectures extensively at AIM Academy teaching Chinese Herbal Formulas and Materia Medica, as well as supervising in both the Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs clinic. He is also very passionate about his volunteer work with street youth and people with AIDS.
Richard has a strong commitment to Tai Chi and Qi Gong, which he has practiced for over 15 years. For the promotion of health and the prevention of disease, he teaches Tai Chi at the downtown YMCA and in the Beaches.
Currently, he is the Senior Advisor of TCM & Acupuncture at AIM Academy.
In 2008, he started Simple Cures - a Chinese Medicine centre and has been in private practice in The Beaches and Vaughan. Richard believes that a simple lifestyle promotes better health; he strives to empower his patients to become more proactive with their own healthcare.
